Fearless

So a few weeks ago I eluded to checking off another task on my life list.  It was going to involve something very daring…and public! It was dancing, something that I love…in the privacy of my own home….

Well dear reader I am happy to report that not only I but 27 other willing participants all made that big check mark this past week.  We performed the first ever Flash Mob in the 360+ year history of our company!  And we knocked it outta the park!

FlashMobPic2It all started with a simple email sent to random people in the company.  It said basically “Hey! Do you want to have some Fun?  I want to dance in front of the whole company!  Are you in?”  These ladies answered with a resounding ‘hell yeah!’ and thus our planning began.  Four of us met for a few weeks and planned out ‘The Moves’.  We had really no idea what we were doing but we had some of the most hysterical lunch hours ever!

Then the meetings with the whole group started.  After shaking off the willies we got down to business and the group was incredibly fast learners.  We only had about 2 weeks to prepare before the big meeting and we made every minute count.  We laughed, we sweat, we got to know a few people that we maybe didn’t know all that well before and most importantly….we danced!

The day of the meeting feelings varied from excitement to mortification to wanting to vomit…and worse.  Somehow we held it together and the only word I can describe it was sheer AWESOMENESS!  I was hoping to post the ‘final’ video that our in house media man is producing but so many people have begged to see it so I am posting one of the videos shot by a co-worker.

A couple of side notes…the guy dancing with us in the beginning is the VP of Sales.  He had no idea what was going to happen when he clicked on the slide in his presentation and when the music started…he just went with it…which was pretty fun.  The gentleman at the end is our President and I brought him in as a co-conspirator unbeknownst to the dancing group.  We needed to tie it all together and make it somewhat ‘work centric’ and our company sponsors the scissors used to cut the net after the final NCAA basketball game.

So without further adieu….click here to witness history in the making.
